About Mongoose

The small Indian mongoose, originally introduced to Hawaii in the 1880s to control rats in the sugar cane fields, has instead become one of the islands' most established invasive pests. Because mongoose hunt by day and rats are active at night, the two barely crossed paths — so the rats stayed and Oahu gained a second problem.

Mongoose are bold, fast, and highly adaptable. They raid trash cans, pet food bowls, compost, and garden beds, and they den in crawl spaces, rock walls, dense landscaping, and under sheds and decks. They can carry leptospirosis and salmonella, and they prey heavily on ground-nesting native birds and sea turtle eggs, which is why they are treated as a serious threat to Hawaiian wildlife.

Terminatus Pest Control provides humane mongoose management across Central, Leeward, and North Shore Oahu. We use live trapping, exclusion, and habitat modification to clear mongoose from residential and commercial properties and to keep them from coming back — protecting your property while reducing the associated health risks.
